The
great personalities who have participated or participate to the activities
of C.I.D.
Those who passed away:
Etienne WOLFF
He was
an administrator of the Board of the College de France, a member of the
Académie Française, of the Académie des Sciences de Paris and also of the
Académie de Médecine and of a great number of foreign Academies. He was one
of those rare great scientists pursuing brilliant scientific activity in
research and remaining at the same time a great philosopher. He was a well
known specialist of experimental embryology.
Agnès
Beriot worked with him on Pacific questions.
He was
Honorary President of CID for ten years and was very active in the CID
André LICHNEROWICZ
He was
a professor of mathematics and physics at the Collège de France, a member
of the Académie des Sciences and a world-renowned mathematician.
He was
the Director of CID for 12 years, and closely implicated in the work of the
CID even though it was not his declared specialty. We had weekly working
meetings with him. His death was a great loss for all those involved in the
CID.
Pierre AIGRAIN
Former
Minister, member of the Academy des Sciences, he was one of the founders of
the new Academy
of Technology. As a physicist, he marked 50 years of
research in France.
He also played an important role in industry and in the European
Commission.
He was
President of C.I.D. for 6 years
Hubert CURIEN
He was
Minister of Research for 7 years. A well known specialist in
crystallography, he has been professor at the Pierre
et Marie Curie University,
president of the CNES, of the CERN and numerous organizations …
He has been involved in the CID for years
and was his Honorary President until his death in February 2005.

Jacques THUILLIER
Professor
of the College de France, he was one of the first art specialists to become
interested in information retrieval in France.
He
has been President of C.I.D. for 3 years and is on the board of C.I.D. and
Honorary President.
Jacques ARSAC
Former
professor of mathematics at the Ecole Normale Supérieure and at the Pierre et Marie
Curie University,
Mr Arsac is a member of the Académie des Sciences.
He was President of CID for six years and
decided to organize the first RIAO conference in 1985.
Etienne-Emile BEAULIEU
Professor
at the College de France and Past President and member of the Academie des
Sciences of Paris.
Jean Pierre KAHANE
Emeritus
Professor at the University of Paris-Orsay, where he has been President,
member of the Académie des Sciences de Paris.
Michel MERLE
Member
of the Académie de Médecine and the Académie de Chirurgie. He is known all
over the world as a specialist of the hand surgery. He is on the CID board.
